The EU

Google says the EU requires a notice of cookie use (by Google) and says they have posted a notice. I don't see it. If cookies bother you, go elsewhere. If the EU bothers you, emigrate. If you live outside the EU, don't go there.

Reparations for Slavery

For John, BLUFThis is a problem that I would like to see put to bed.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

A Different Bargain on Race

The source of this OpEd is The New York Times and the Author is Mr Ross Douthat.  The date is 4 March 2017.

This is about reparations for slavery and Mr Douthat proposes we give every man, woman and child descended from African slaves a one time payment of $10,000.

I am all for it, as long as we can find someone who can sign off on it in the name of all the descendants of former slaves in the United States.

I would jump the amount of reparations from Mr Douthat's proposed $10,000 to $20,000.  Even $20,000 isn't a lot—it won't get you through four years of UMass Lowell, a State University—but it would be a start.

I would include a provision that older descendants of slaves could make their money over to younger descendants with no tax penalty.

As an aside, the Republican Party he describes may be the Republican Party in New York City, but it is NOT the Republican Party in Lowell, Massachusetts.
