Flying

This is what flying is all about.

Three French Mirage fighters, and early on, a tanker—to take them to the Sahara desert.  That little quick stop, at the beginning of the video, when the airplane is taxiing out of the hardened aircraft shelter, is so the bottom of the tires can be checked for cuts and nicks that could cause a tire to blow out.

Cliff's experience in the air is much more extensive than mine, but I assure you that once you have "aviated" you are forever addicted...and long to return to cloud dancing......and as the final stanza of High Flight intones...."reach out and touch the face of God."

Once bitten, you subconciously "fly" everytime you ride in a plane, or watch one in flight. You subliminally push on the rudder pedals, move the stick, adjust the power.....and when you see a plane landing in a cross-wind, you "kick out the crab"....amazingly about the same time that the real pilot does so. It becomes an instinct......a genetic mutation......part of your soul.

It is.......nirvana.

Very nice, although I do think some CGI was involved.

Just want to voice my strong concurrence with commenter #3. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I was going to delete comment number 3 (I first saw it in the EMail, where I view all comments), but only after I had seen comment number 4, which I thought had referred to the comment by Ron Smits, who was jealous of those Froggies having all that fun flying their Mirages. However, given that comment number 4 depends upon comment number 3 and given that, aside from the word "sex" I understand none of it, I will leave it up—unless someone tells me that it is a naughty comment (and I suspect it is) and that I should be offended, in which case it is going down.

LOL...now here comes the part where I admit that despite my wannabe-polyglot ways, I have absolutely no idea what comment #3 says either.

I would have to know more to even be offended, but I think there's a junior high-schooler somewhere in me that still cracks up hysterically at old Adam Sandler movies and found it funny that the word "sex" broke through those characters in plain English.

My best guess? A Viagra ad. But on some level, I'm giving that guy credit.
